The Family of Löb & Jette (née Hermann) FRANKENBERG

The Nackommenliste/Descendants List below identifies members of the Löb and Jette Frankenberg born in Germany before 1945. The information comes from the sources identified below. We welcome further contributions, comments, and corrections.

1. The word ‘murdered’ is used as defined in the Yad Vashem Database as follows: “During the Shoah, Jews were murdered in a variety of ways, among them gassing, shooting, burning, drowning or burial alive, exhaustion through forced labor, starvation, epidemic diseases, deprivation of medical care and minimal hygienic conditions, and more.”

2. The German word ‘verschollen‘ has become a term used in Holocaust research to mean for use when it is believed the person was murdered but we have no definite date of death. The English translation of the word as ‘disappeared’ doesn’t adequately capture this meaning, and assigning the date of 08 May 1945, the end of WWII, seems meaningless since most German Jews, who had been deported, had been murdered long before this date.
